OUR OUTREACH MINISTRY
Our Lord's instructions to the Disciples in Matthew 28, and right on down to us today was to go into all the world presenting the gospel or "good news" which is that Christ came, was crucified, buried according to the Scriptures and rose again on the third day, according to the Scriptures. He is not dead but alive and has ascended to the Father in Heaven and is now seated at His right hand to make intercession for me and you. This was the message right after the crucifixion...and continues to this day. This is the message that is special to God and to all mankind. And this is the message we take with us everywhere we go, and even to the places where we ourselves cannot go. God has called many to go to various places to spread the "good news" and we want to be part of it all...local as well as across the oceans. That in mind, we join together to hold services to which we invite any and all who will come. We also strive to pass out tracts and other written materials. We put together baskets of needed items for Hospice to help them to minister especially to families of patients that are terminally ill. We endeavor to "give them a drink of water in Jesus' name". We minister to those in prison by helping other ministries who are specifically going to the jails, such as the Gideons and Prison Ministries. We minister to the homeless by providing through the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission and Salvation Army. Unwed mothers-to-be are ministered to as we share with other agencies. And, of course, there are what we call "foreign" missions where we take the responsibility of providing financial help to those who have been called to remote countries to minister. All this we do through what we call "faith promise" Faith Promise is a method whereby we as individual members of our church and any others that may wish to participate, join together to pray and ask the Lord to impress a figure upon our hearts to give towards missions. When He has answered that, then we begin to give that into our missions account on a weekly or monthly plan. We then, as a church, distribute the finances or other goods given to the designated agencies or persons. It is a wonderful plan...and it works. Below are listed just some of the ministries that we are involved with or have been in the past and/or will be in the future. Would you consider making a donation to Open Door Bible Church for missions? You may do so in confidence knowing that all of your gift goes to the missions outreach. None is kept by the church for any purpose. Contact Pastor Jack, or send a check to the mailing address of the church found on the contact page, attention Pastor Jack and it will be directed to the proper ministry as you have specified. You will receive a tax receipt and "thank you" letter from us and a yearly statement is available if you give multiple times during the year. We invite you to help us with this endeavor.
As you can see, we are just barely off the starting line when it comes to our missions support and involvement. We have a long way to go to get anywhere near the place we want to be...but at least we are beginning. Missions outreach, both local and distance, is a very important venture in any local church. It takes commitment from the total congregation to make it a really vibrant ministry and that is why we continually promote this "investment" in our church. We know from the Scriptures that it pays great rewards in eternity. And with that in mind, we are not ashamed to ask you to join in with us to help provide the means whereby the message of the "good news" can be distributed to the far ends of the earth. Would you join in with us? You will receive a receipt for your taxes from this ministry. Email our Pastor, or send a contribution to our PO Box address, to the attention of "Missions" and it will be directed to the proper place.
